Wear THIS not THAT: A Budget Savvy Boho Fashion Guide

Summer Fashion

Ariel: After the 4th of July holiday weekend, I realized summer really HAS ARRIVED and I frantically made a beeline to my closet… and promptly discovered I was not at all ready for the new sunny weather. Not only was my summer collection vastly uncoordinated, I needed to hit the beach just a few more times before I looked not unlike a close relative of Edward Cullen. Did I just make a Twilight reference? Back to summer: I decided to change the devastated look on my face and  quickly checked my emails to find Rachel Zoe’s “The Zoe Report.” She always gives me stellar outfit ideas.***

Chanel Paper Bag

I love Chanel just as much as the next Fashionista, but sometimes the paycheck just doesn’t quite cut it for some of the more exorbitant accessories. So after some thorough research, I’ve put together a little something something for my thrifty shoppers (including myself, of course.) I have found each Gucci dress its counterpart.

Wear THIS not THAT begins now!

1.) THE White dress. Behind every little black dress, there’s an equally wardrobe worthy white summer dress hidden behind. Your newly tan stems are just begging for new threads… pair that with beige wedge heels,  a couple Chan Luu wraps, aviator Ray Ban’s and a messy yet shining mane and achieve that effortless sexy sloppy chic style everyone will envy.

2.) Wide-leg jumpsuits. Let’s step out of our comfort zone for a moment. This is one of those times where you have to just go with it. And they’re so versatile… you can go straight from your last work meeting to a happy hour picnic in the park!

Pair it with some clunky bracelets, a sloppy bun and a fun colored purse and you’re ready to go!

3.) Bathing Suits… We all know summer creeps around the corner and soon enough we’re forced to bare our not-so-prepared beach bodies. Well don’t fear ladies, I’ve picked out some fabulous suits that can be worn AFTER a over-indulgent BBQ if need be!

The latter is so much of a steal it should be illegal. Not usually a fan of Victoria’s Secret…  BUT, I DO make a small exception during summer time when their great sales on suits come out. It’s hard to justify spending hundreds on a small piece of fabric, therefore I always find myself gravitating towards VS for some threads.

4.) Everyone is aware of TOMS. They have the most amazing story to them: for every pair you buy, they donate one to a child in need of shoes. So this is the exception of this article. There is no cheaper version. TOMS are affordable and it provides you with the chance to earn yourself some good karma, along with the fact it’s for a good cause. Why don’t you go crazy and get yourself a couple pairs. Here are mine! I wear them with EVERYTHING. Even dressed the wedges up and wore to a casual backyard wedding! Everyone complimented them, to boot! (Pun intended. Haha.)

5.) There are some things I just like to splurge on, i.e. shoes and purses. BUT, since I just saved myself a dollar or two on my TOMS, I feel validated to indulge on some sunglasses…. but don’t get your hopes too high. I’m not indulging THAT much! Although I’m sure my boyfriend would get a good laugh outta seeing me buy $400 sun shields.

To all you fabulous bohemian bombshells out there… You deserve the best of the best. You deserve it. But, alas, we all hit that max where no matter how much we love something, we just can’t have it. It’s a feeling not unlike that last brownie on the plate that’s pining for you and tantalizing you into a paralyzing fear of lost self-control. Here is your prescription: Follow the guidelines of my rules and I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. You don’t need to abuse your credit card just for brand names… it’s all about quality and how they make you feel.

Rad…. I hate how some fashion is just ultra expensive and I feel worthless when it comes to keeping up with it!
